Rule of Thirds

Below this introductory note there are four pairs of photos which show 'Before' and 'After' images demonstrating the difference in effect between:
  • photos where the subject is centred vertically and horizontally, often with the horizon centred too; and
  • photos where imaginary lines are drawn to divide the frame into thirds vertically and horizontally, with the subject being on one of the lines with a focal point, preferably, on one of the four intersection points.
